Delifonseca establishes residents club in a bid to bring local community together

Liverpool’s renowned delicatessen and neighbourhood restaurant Delifonseca has established its very own residents club in a bid to bring together the local community.

The restaurant, which has just celebrated its fifth birthday, recently unveiled a new look restaurant in the form of ‘Fonseca’s’ that will now play host to regular themed nights every first Monday of the month.

For £10 per person per event, guests can enjoy a host of themed evenings, with the first six month schedule including book and film club nights, a sugar craft evening and other food & wine based events.

Restaurant manager and host of the Residents Club Danielle Youds said: “It’s really important to us to give residents the chance to interact on a regular basis, to enjoy a glass of wine, eat good food and chat about their interests.

“Over the years, many city residents have used Delifonseca literally as their ‘kitchen’, as they either eat here in the restaurant, buy pre-prepared meals or source the ingredients to create meals in the their own kitchens. Because of this, we get to know our regulars and having listened to them we have increased our offering by adding fresh vegetables, a larger range of wines and beers and provided a butchers order and collection service.

“Essentially, we have re-focused back to what inspired the opening of Delifonseca in the first place – creating a true neighbourhood delicatessen and restaurant; the kitchen of the city!”

The Residents Club has already attracted much interest from a diversity of both new and existing customers and Danielle hopes it will remain a permanent fixture.

“As a city centre resident myself, I think it’s very hard to find something to do on your own and I love the fact that people can attend either as part of a couple, a group of friends and or more importantly as an individual”, said Danielle, “Our club gives you the chance to spend some time with like minded people and hopefully we will create our own little community that continues to develop over time.”

Since opening back in 2006, Delifonseca, which is the brainchild of proprietor Candice Fonseca, has won over the hearts of minds of the public, having won the Customer Awards for Service (Best Waiter 2008 & 2009), Best Small Food Business in the Northwest 2009, Editor’s Choice Best Value Restaurant in the UK 2010 by The Good Food Guide and being regularly listed in the Independent’s Top 50 Delis in the country.
