Liverpool in London to Stage Software City


Liverpool is taking its flagship technology event to London this month.

Software City International is designed to provide funding networking, investment and training opportunities for entrepreneurs and investment in the digital and creative sectors while showcasing Liverpool and the wider region as internationally significant in this key sector.

Liverpool Vision, alongside Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Grant Thornton, Pembridge Partners, the IBM Global Entrepreneur Programme and NWIX are supporting the day, which will consist of a packed programme of pitching and discussion as well as a powerful platform for networking.

Ahead of Software City International, a special workshop at the “It’s Liverpool in London” headquarters will also be taking place for businesses, which will give people professional support as well as help with their business plan and presentation techniques.

This year the event welcomes, DJ come technology entrepreneur, Steve Purdham, chief executive of We7, the music streaming service, as its keynote speaker.

Steve's entrepreneurial abilities have been recognised by many prestigious industry awards, including IOD Director of the Year, Technology CEO of the Year, Technology Entrepreneur of the Year and Techmark Personality of the Year. The panel to which companies will pitch is set to include the Government’s digital champion, Martha Lane Fox.

Steve Smith, Industry Director ICT at Liverpool Vision, who will be chairing the day, said: “Software City started its life in Liverpool four years ago. Since then we’ve staged events all over the world in places such as Helsinki, Stockholm and Palo Alto and it connects the hottest prospects with the highest calibre investors.

“Taking it to London for the second time this year is another great opportunity to showcase Liverpool’s technology and investment opportunities and will allow our companies to make valuable contacts with London-based finance providers.

“Some of the biggest global names in technology and finance are backing what promises to be a packed programme of pitching, networking and we are delighted that Steve Purdham will be addressing Liverpool Software City in London.”

He added: “Next year we will be holding a Software City at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Liverpool, which comes to Europe for the first ever time, and it will have a real international flavour utilising our expanding It’s Liverpool in the US network.”

Software City International is free to attend and takes place on November 29, 2011 at 3pm at ‘It’s Liverpool in London”, Royal Mint Court, Tower Hill.
