Ortmans 'thrilled' by Liverpool ahead of congress
Jonathan Ortmans, policy adviser at The Kauffman Foundation, has praised the economic progress of Liverpool and expressed his delight that the organisation had decided to take its Global Entrepreneurship Congress to the city next year.
The Global Entrepreneurship Congress is a five-day event which will take place at the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre in March 2012 and is set to bring 500 visitors from more than 100 countries.
It is organised by The Kauffman Foundation, a non-profit foundation based in Missouri, USA, which aims to advance entrepreneurship education and training and to promote entrepreneurship-friendly policies.
Speaking at a Liverpool Business Week, Ortmans said: "We're thrilled to have made the decision to bring the Global Entrepreneurship Congress to Liverpool."
Frank McKenna, chairman of Downtown Liverpool in Business, organisers of Liverpool Business Week along with Liverpool Vision, added: "The Liverpool city region is blessed with a wealth of entrepreneurs and offers a natural home for an event such as this.
"We are the first city in Europe to have this privilege and I’m sure that Liverpool’s business community will do all they can to maximise the opportunities that it will provide."
He added that there was an "entrepreneurial buzz and a real appetite for growth" in the city at the moment.
