Screen on the Green at Liverpool One
Liverpool ONE is bringing Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and Puccini’s Tosca to life on a big screen this summer to entertain shoppers in the open air.
Screen on the Green will broadcast iconic, must-see events on Chavasse Park for people to enjoy for free.
Screen on the Green launches on Monday 13th June with a screening of Tosca live from Valencia as part of VIVA EUROPA 2011, an initiative to help promote a European feeling of community through cultural events. You can be one of thousands across Europe to watch the classic opera on the night, as the performance is being shown via satellite in 55 cities.
Royal Ascot will be shown between 14th – 18th June and Wimbledon will be broadcast between Monday 20th June – Sunday 3rd July, including the ladies’ singles final on Saturday 2nd July and the men’s singles final on Sunday 3rd July.
Donna Howitt , marketing director at Liverpool ONE says: “Summer’s finally here and the giant screen is a great way for our shoppers to enhance their visit to Liverpool ONE. We’re encouraging people to round up friends and family, pack a picnic and a blanket and head to Chavasse Park to take advantage of the free big screen entertainment.”
The VIVA EUROPA 2011 opera screening will also celebrate the 2011 European Year for Volunteering, so volunteers from Liverpool’s current City Stars programme and those who were involved in the Capital of Culture have received a special invitation to the event.
